Read it right
Draw the problem, translate the key words (“of” means multiply, “remaining”, “total”), and try a simpler version first.
Silly mistakes aren't carelessness. We teach the methods that don't go wrong.
“My child understands the work but keeps losing marks on careless errors.” A dropped negative, a misread question, a missing unit.
Before the first class, your child does a short timed paper in their own time. The teacher uses it to see where marks are being lost.
We go through the diagnostic together and set goals. Your child finds their own mistakes first.
Sessions focus on what the diagnostic found, fully personalised to your child, with short homework after each class.
At the end, a parent report on your child's progress and next steps.
Draw the problem, translate the key words (“of” means multiply, “remaining”, “total”), and try a simpler version first.
Fractions instead of messy decimals, simplify before calculating, and units that cancel out.
A plan line first, then every step and every unit, so working is clear and earns method marks.
The teacher points to where a mistake is, and your child finds and fixes it.
New math skills fade fast. Forgetting is steepest in the first day or two after a lesson, a pattern first measured by Hermann Ebbinghaus. Each short practice session brings the skill back and slows how quickly it fades.
That's why we ask for a few minutes of practice every day between classes, so safe methods become automatic.
